Livorno, Italy

Since our excursion to Pisa was only a half day trip, we had time on our own and we explored Livorno. Livorno is the second largest port in the Mediterranean with Genoa being the largest. Livorno actually has two ports: a historic port and an industrial port that deals with the container ships and employs over 15,000 workers. Wine is a big export item here as this is part of the Tuscany region (Florence is the administrative center of Tuscany). Livorno is the youngest fishing village established in 1606 with many cultures and religions present here.

We walked the streets and found a church and a fort.

The fort was open
